Here on Earth, particularly in the part of North America we call the United States, we have allotted this time of year to express a feeling of Thanksgiving, and communion among people.  The practices of giving and sharing are at the forefront of our minds, and we tend to express our gratitude more openly and freely for the gifts that others bestow on us.  At Betamorph Recordings, we would like to thank the Universe and all its inhabitants for giving us Obscenity, 1point5, Tim Ismag, and Point.Blank, the creative geniuses behind the “Hexanite E.P.”

The primary melody in Hexanite is simple, yet powerful and emotive.  Possibly owing its decidedly Eastern tone and flavor to Phill “Obscenity” Kruglov’s residence in Tel Aviv Israel, It conjures images of desert sands sprawling as far as the eye can see, dunes rising up to meet a cloudless pale blue sky, and firepower.  Gigantic guns mounted atop rugged dune jumpers that tear through the landscape on their way to unleash havoc and mayhem on some unsuspecting village.  Obscenity and Dan “1point5” Smith have created a beautifully raucous monstrosity that is both perfectly balanced tonally and completely aggro in nature.  The lead is a raspy and menacing Reece-like synth that not only creates the aggressive tone that this piece takes on, but also has such depth and continuous modulation that it comes alive as it swells and pulses over the beat.  “Hexanite” achieves continuity throughout the sections with minor key bass blips, and a persistent klav-like drum that adds to the overall “Easterness” of this piece.

With its unique chords, exceptional synths, and gritty textures, it’s no wonder heavy-hitters Tim Ismag and Point.Blank have decided to jump into the pool on this one.  Point.Blank’s interpretation of “Hexanite” is a banger in itself.  He chops the melody and adds some of his signature mid-range lasers in ways that reveal his personal touch.  Tim Ismag takes “Hexanite” and kicks it up a notch with an extra layer of beef on the drums, some insane editing, and new atmospheres that make this version my personal favorite.  Each version has its nuances that will appeal to different audiences but all three mixes deliver when it comes to intensity and brain-scrambling bass.   A heavy track if there ever was one, “Hexanite” will be helping the Dubstep Universe work off some of those holiday pounds on the dance floor this season.
